BOX:204

BOX204 is a socially critical dance theater piece about breaking down power structures with a unique combination of science fiction plot, dance and a strong technology component.

Background

One of my important projects is the dance theater piece “BOX:204”, which deals with critical topics such as media consumption and mass manipulation.

My intention was to shed light on how people are manipulated by media, advertising and propaganda while at the same time challenging the audience to engage with these issues.

With “BOX:204” I translated these concepts into a powerful visual language, with dancers in light-up costumes and a stage brought to life by lasers. Die körperlich fordernde Choreografie, die in Kombination mit der schweren LED-Bekleidung ausgeführt wird, symbolisiert den Kampf und die Schwere des Lebens in einem überwachten System.

Every movement, every dance step tells of the longing for freedom and individuality.

The task

Innovative dance theater

Every step, new territory

Bei der Realisierung von “BOX:204” stellte ich mich zahlreichen Herausforderungen.

The artistic vision of creating a dance piece that addresses themes such as media consumption and manipulation required an innovative combination of choreography and technology.

Particularly demanding was the use of LED costumes and precise laser technology, which not only intensified the performance on stage, but also challenged the dancers’ physical skills. Synchronizing the technical elements with the dance sequences required careful planning and coordination.

In addition, financing was a key aspect that required creative solutions and commitment. All of this effort went into creating an immersive experience that makes viewers think and effectively expresses the artistic intent.

Realization

INTERDISCIPLINARY, baby!

In the development and implementation of “BOX:204” I not only acted as a choreographer, but also as a director and producer.

The interdisciplinary nature of this project reflects my deep interest in the connection between technology and performing arts.

My goal was to create an experience that not only entertains, but also provokes and makes you think.

Results

Finding the courage

to go new ways

The audience feedback and energy during the live performances confirmed that “BOX:204” is more than just a dance show; it is a wake-up call, a mirror of our times, inviting viewers to critically reflect on their own role in society.

I am proud of what we have achieved with “BOX:204” – it is one of the highlights of my artistic vision, my technical expertise and my constant drive to revolutionize the art form of dance theater.

The play was also produced as a film at the same time, but unfortunately the film has not yet been completed due to a lack of financing.
